Aloha,
CA -9 is a well -thought out amendment that would fund a full-time staff person to liason with community organizations
and council members in the passage of resolutions to purchase open space lands, and the distribution of the
maintenance fund such that those lands are properly cared for. Community organizations are ready to mobilize with
experienced leadership, nonprofit partnerships, and volunteer networks in order to secure matching funds to extend
taxpayer dollars and to implement maintenance plans. Please pass this amendment to complete the vision of the Open
Space provision, and allow the Big Island to flourish as a model of ecological stewardship.
