CHARTER COMMISSION Purpose: TostudyandreviewtheHawai‘iCounty Charterbeginning in1989andevery tenthyearthereafter. Authority: Hawai'iCounty Charter, Section15-3, titledMandatory Charter Review., and Chapter 50, Hawai‘iRevised Statutes. Appointment: Mayor, with Council approval. Members shall holdoffice untiltheamendments orcharter areratified orrejected. FullMembership: Eleven (11) members. Specific Representation: Nomore thansixshallbelongtothesamepoliticalparty. Membership shallbe representativeofthevariousgeographicalareasofPuna, Ka, Kona, Kohala, Hmkua, andHilo. Requirements: Holdatleast onepublichearing ineachofthegeographical areasofPuna, Ka‘ Kona, Kohala, Hmkua, andHilo. Meetings: Unless otherwise specified, regular meetings willbeheldonthesecond Friday ofeachmonth, alternating between HiloandKailua-Kona, toconvene at 1:30p.m. Financial Disclosure: Members mustfileFinancial Disclosure within 20working daysoftakingthe oathofoffice. Thereafter, annualdisclosures mustbefiledonorbeforeJanuary 31. Thedisclosures areconfidential andwillbekeptonfilebytheBoardof Ethics. County Code, Chapter 2, Section 2-91.1.
