Lenx Neves
Student
Volcano School of Arts and Sciences
Volcano, Hawai'i
February 7, 2019
Charter Commission
Hilo Hawaii 96720
Aloha Commissioners,
Aloha, my name is Lenx Neves, I live in Royal Hawaiian Estates in Volcano
Hawaii. I'm a 6th grader at the Volcano School of Arts and Sciences. I feel
lucky to go to Kawa once a month to save native and take away invasive
plants. My favorite job to do is water all the plants and put new plants in new
and clean dirt.
The place called Kawa is very important to me because I call that home,
that is a place that I spend time with my best friends, I learn how to take care
of plants, I learned to work and not give up, I learn to take care of my 'aina.
This is important for everyone,o see us work and hopefully they will help us
take care of Kawa.
In 2006, 2010, 2012 voters voted for this program. We should keep on
with the fund because all the other islands are expensive with hotels and
expensive homes.
Kawa is important to me because Hawaiians lived at Kawa. If we don't
take care of the land, all the wiliwili, kukui, niu, naupaka and kou are going to
shrivel and die. They will also die because the plants will suffocate within
invasive plants. I don't want the island of Hawaii to suffocate.
Sincerely,
-Lenx Neves
Comm. No. 21.127
