Re: Request to form a County Wastewater Advisory Committee pursuant
to HAR §11-62-04
As provided for under HAR §11-62-04, I hereby request the formation of a
Hawai'i County Wastewater Advisory Committee to review and make recommendations
to you as the Department of Health Director on the application of wastewater matters
covered by HAR 11-62 which are unique to this county, including critical wastewater
disposal areas and applications for variances.
I would nominate the following persons to be members of this committee:
• County of Hawai'i
o Department of Environmental Management, Director or designee
o Department of Public Works, Director or designee
o Planning Department, Director or designee
o Department of Water Supply, Manager or designee
• Professions
o Engineering—wastewater engineer
o Coastal Water Quality—environmental organization (e.g., Coral Reef
Alliance), UHH, or SeaGrant
