Members Present: (Chair) Patricia Walters, Linda Gonzales, Penny Alcoran, Pamela Punihaole Heather Dansdill, Laura Tobosa, Sam Nagasawa, Byron Yogi, Laina Torres, Susan Shirachi (by phone) Members Excused: Members Absent: Christina Parke County Staff Present: Malia Hall (Deputy Corporation Council), Julie Rawlins (ADA Coordinator) Guests Present: Nicole Nash Topic/Agenda Discussion Action Item Chair Patricia Walters asked for a roil call The Committee members acknowledged their presence. Review/Approve Approval of the November 14 and Committee Member Susan Minutes December 5, 2018 Minutes Shirachi made a motion to approve the minutes. Committee Member Penny Alcoran seconded the motion. All were in favor. 3. Public Testimony on No public testimony. Agenda Items Tage 1 of 2 Hawai 'i County is an equal opportunity provider and employer. An Area Agency on Aging Julie Rawlins reported that the number one complaint is illegal handi-cap parking. Posters are in the making to distribute warnings to various business, county offices and in buses to post. Poster should be printed by the end of the month. New member on board on the Parks and Recreation panel, female from Utah was chosen. She will start on Feb 1, 2019 and will be at the next committee meeting. She comes highly recommended. Anti -harassment and Anti- discrimination to 43 County employees in November 26, 2018. This applies to disabled. Attended in December Tea House at Liliuokalani Park is not handicapped accessible. Richardson Beach no updates yet. Chair Walters shared how the 4. Committee new members have received Member training from Susan Shirachi this Training past 2 weeks. Committee Member Pamela Punihaole expressed Parking enforcement as her passion. Committee Member Byron Yogi mentioned that he is on the recruitment Committee with Penny Alcoran and he is helping Susan Shirachi with Emergency Preparedness. Committee Member Pamela Punihaole expressed Parking enforcement as her passion. Committee Member Byron Yogi mentioned that he is on the recruitment Committee with Penny Alcoran and he is helping Susan Shirachi with Emergency Preparedness. Committee Member Shirachi mentioned that she would like to Chair the Housing Sub Committee. Committee Member Sam Nagasawa volunteered to Chair the Parks and Recreation Sub Committee. Committee Member Laura Tobosa will help Sam with the Parks and Recreation Sub Committee. Committee Member Heather Dansdill told the Committee that her passion is the transition of students in the Community into adults. Workplace readiness and public education. Committee Member Pam mentioned her involvement with Disabled Veterans and would be willing to help in that Sub Committee. Committee Member Laina Torres wanted to chair the homebound elderly Sub Committee. Committee Member Penny Alcoran mentioned her passion is to do outreach to elderly persons with disabilities and ensure public safety. Presentation Chair Walters informed the and Discussion Committee about the 2019 on the County of Senior Directory booklet, which Hawaii Booklet is available at the Hawaii County for Aging and Office of Aging. She mentioned People with it is a great resource with many Disabilties different agencies to help (Copy for all anyone, especially people with members) disabilities. 7.Annoucements a. New Committee Members to meet with Chair Walters welcomed the Mayor Kim at Mayor's Office in Hilo on Committee to meet with Mayor January 24`h at 10:00 am.
