The RRP is a low interest loan program available to eligible low -and moderate - income homeowners who are interested in repairing and improving their primary residence. The RRP loan can be used for, but not limited to, roof repairs, electrical and plumbing work, sewer improvements, termite treatment, repairs to damages caused by termites or wood rot and the installation of a solar water heating system. In addition, it could be used for home modifications to meet the needs of a person with disabilities. Loans range from $2,500 to $25,000 at 3% simple interest. Loan payments are deferred for 15 years, at which time full payment will be due. Applicants 62 years or older or with persons with a disability, may be eligible to have 30% of the principal balance of the loan forgiven at end of the loan period. Applications and program information may be found on-line at http:// www.hawaiicounty.gov/office-of-housing. For more information or an application packet contact: Kimberly Pacheco Special Programs Coordinator County of Hawai`i Office of Housing & Community Development Phone: (808) 959-4642 Fax: (808) 959-9308 E-mail: ohcdloans@hawaiicounty.gov What ID to Bring to Renew your Hawaii Driver's License with Gold Star When the time comes to renew your Hawaii Driver's License, make sure you have all the required documents so there's no delay in getting your license. On January 16, 2018, motorists renewing their Hawaii driver's licenses began bearing a star in a gold circle, indicating that the license is in full compliance with new Federal guidelines. To obtain the gold star driver's licenses, which indicates the license is Real ID compliant, motorists must present the following documents to the Vehicle Registration & Licensing Division: • A U.S. State, Local Government -issued Certificate of Birth; or a valid U.S. Passport or Passport Card; • For married women who changed their names, a certified government -issued marriage certificate (showing name on birth certificate); • A Social Security card (unlaminated) showing current name; • Two documents showing your physical address (such as a HELCO bill). If you use a post office box number, submit one docu- ment with the post office box number and one document with your physical address. • Note: Motorists may elect to get a limited - purpose driver's license, which will not have a gold star, but which may ONLY be used to drive. For more information on Acceptable Documents visit our website: http:// www.hawaiicounty.gov/finance-vrl- acceptable-docs/. The County Division of Vehicle Registration & Licensing recommend renewing your license in the middle of the month when visiting Kona, Waimea or Pahoa offices, to avoid peak crowds at other times of the month. No change is required at this time to currently -valid licenses. The Department of Homeland Security has man- dated that all driver's licenses used as identification to board flights and enter all Federal buildings must bear the gold star by October 1, 2020. Passports can be used as alternate identification to board flights. Kupuna News 3 April -June 2019 April 01, Mon. 02, Tues. 03, Wed. 05, Fri. 08, Mon. 08, Mon. 09, Tues. 09, Tues. 10, Wed. 24, Wed.
