Noda Managing Director Deputy Director County of Hawai‘i DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 345 Kekūanāoʻa Street, Suite 41 · Hilo, Hawai‘i 96720 Ph: (808) 961-8083 · Fax: (808) 961-8086 Email: cohdem@hawaiicounty.gov NEWS RELEASE March 29, 2019 Contact: Michael Kaha, Solid Waste Division Deputy Chief, County of Hawaiʻi Department of Environmental Management (office main line 808-961-8083; work cell 808-756-8147) Keʻei Transfer Station is Closed Early Today (3/29/19) from 9:00 a.m. The Keʻei Transfer Station will close at 9:00 a.m. today (Friday, March 29, 2019) and will reopen as regularly scheduled on Sunday, March 31, 2019, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Until 4:15 p.m. this afternoon, the public can take their waste to the West Hawaiʻi Sanitary Landfill (known as the Puʻuanahulu landfill), which is open six days a week (closed on Sundays), from 7:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. We apologize for the inconvenience due to the unanticipated staffing shortage, and thank you for your patience and understanding.
