Subject: No special election for 2% fund
Aloha commissioners,
I find it hard to understand talk of having a special election for the 2% land fund. There've already been 3 elections
where the 2% and maintenance funds came out solidly popular. Not only that, the fund is successful and growing our
island's ability to preserve the most special places, open space, and sanity that residents depend upon for a decent
quality of life.
When the county claims to lack of funds for so many important things, how can an unnecessary special election be
considered when it will cost taxpayers plenty?
Please support the following amendments and give up diversions meant only to divert funds from where We the People
voted that they go:
1. CA -9 with our preferred amendment have one staff member who works ONLY on the 2% Land fund Program
and
2. CA -18 would allow payment to people who work to protect our treasured, acquired lands.
