<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />APRIL 5, 2007 <br />AOAO PUNAHELE PROFESSIONAL <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the application of <br />BUILDING (REZ 07-000060) <br />was called to order at 11:45 a.m. in the County of Hawaii, <br />Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi Street, Hilo, Hawaii, with Chairman William <br />Graham presiding. <br />PRESENT: William Graham ABSENT & EXCUSED: C. Kimo Alameda <br />Takashi Domingo <br />Andrew Iwashita <br />Alvin Rho <br /> Rene’ Siracusa <br />Rodney Watanabe <br />Rell Woodward <br />Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Christopher Yuen, Planning Director <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br /> And 40 people from the public in attendance <br />APPLICANT: AOAO PUNAHELE PROFESSIONAL BUILDING (REZ 07-000060) <br />Change of Zone from Single-Family Residential 7,500 square feet (RS-7.5) to Neighborhood <br />Commercial 10,000 square feet (CN-10) district for 9,230 square feet of land. The property is <br />located along the south side of Punahele Street, approximately 200 feet east of the Komohana <br />Street – Punahele Street intersection, across from the Hawaii Community Correctional Facility, <br />nd <br />Punahoa 2, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-3-35:18. <br />GRAHAM: Okay, our next item is the AOAO PUNAHELE PROFESSIONAL <br />BUILDING, a rezoning request. So our mission as the Planning Commission is to give a <br />recommendation to the County Council on the rezoning request. The request is for a Change of <br />Zone from Single-Family Residential (RS-7.5) to Neighborhood Commercial (CN-10) district <br />for 9,230 square feet of land. It’s located along the south side of Punahele Street, approximately <br />200 feet east of the Komohana Street – Punahele Street intersection, and it’s across from the <br />Hawaii Community Correctional Facility in South Hilo, Hawaii. Jeff? <br />DARROW: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. If I can direct your attention to the location <br />map. The area of this application is within the South Hilo district of Hawaii, more specifically <br />we’re looking at Waianuenue Avenue, running in a west-east direction. And we have Komohana <br />identified here on the map running in a north-south direction. We have Punahele running <br />parallel with Waianuenue, and the area of the application is identified in the blue dot. Just for <br />reference, the area identified in pink, again, the zoning is Commercial Neighborhood. This is the <br />area of the Punahele Medical Facility, as well as other medical facilities in the area. We have the <br /> EXHIBIT C <br />1 <br /> <br />
