From:
Susan Barnes
To:
LPCiestimanv
Subject:
Item #10 Hoea Triangle
Date:
Friday, December 10, 2021 12:03:06 PM
Aloha,
This letter voices strong opposition to the plans to place one or two food tricks and one or two portapotties on this
piece of land.
I believe that such a plan will create serious traffic problems on an already substandard road. The proximity of the
Base Yard means that there is often heavy traffic that creates dangerous conditions due to the width of the road.
I believe that this plan will make it more difficult for cars exiting Hoea Rd onto the highway to see oncoming traffic
from town, thus creating a safety hazard.
I believe that this plan will be an aesthetic blight and ruin the entry to town. The "Welcome to North Kohala..."
rock wall will be obscured by these "strictures".
I believe it is disrespectful to place these eyesores next to a reference to King Kamehameha.
There is no way to keep tourists from stopping to use the portapotties or to expect them to park legally. Already
they park illegally in town itself, and it is unlikely that this behavior will change. We do not have the police
personnel to monitor this site.
Please do not allow this eyesore to be our welcoming symbol.
Mahalo for your attention.
Susan Barnes, Hoea Road, Hawi.
