<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />MINUTES <br />AUGUST 3, 2007 <br />The Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:11 a.m. in the County of Hawaii, <br />Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi Street, Hilo, Hawaii, with First Vice- <br />Chairman C. Kimo Alameda presiding. <br />PRESENT: C. Kimo Alameda ABSENT & EXCUSED: William Graham <br />Takashi Domingo Rodney Watanabe <br />Andrew Iwashita <br />Shelly Ogata <br />Alvin Rho <br />Rene’ Siracusa <br />Rell Woodward <br />Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Brad Kurokawa, Deputy Planning Director <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br />The Chair introduced the Commissioners and staff to members of the public. <br />All those testifying were duly sworn in. <br />SPP 07-000043 The Commission took this item up at 9:13 a.m. with <br />PAUL BLECK approximately 60 people from the public in attendance. <br />KAHUKU, <br />KAU <br />APPLICANT: PAUL BLECK (SPP 07-000043) <br />Special Permit to allow the establishment of a rock crushing facility and quarry operation <br />on approximately 10 acres of land situated within the State Land Use Agricultural <br />district. The property is located approximately 5 miles mauka (north) of the Hawaii Belt <br />Road (Highway 11) approximately 500 feet north of the Poinciana Drive - Koa Lane <br />intersection, Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Subdivision, Kahuku, Kau, Hawaii, <br />TMK: 9-2-179: Por. 4. <br />Neither the applicant nor his representative was in attendance. <br />Mr. Darrow noted the applicant in his July 16, 2007 letter requested a continuance of the <br />hearing to the September Kona meeting to comply with the Planning Department’s <br />1 <br /> <br />
