From: Audrey Ichida
To: Robert Silber;WPCtestimony;Alison Williams
Subject: Support for special use permit PL-SPP-2022-000016
Date: Thursday,July 6,2023 9:06:36 AM
Dear Planning Committee,
I am writing in support of special permit application PL-SPP-2022-000016 for Rober Silber.
I have known Robert for over 7 years and have had multiple business dealings with him as
well as being his friend.
In my experience Robert is true to his word and has conducted himself and his business with
integrity consistently. He has added value to the Puna community by enriching the land with
healthy home grown organic foods and maintaining an alcohol and drug-free space.
The special permit would allow the land at 13-2060 Lolia Place (Hawaii Eco Retreat) to be
more fully utilized in service of the community. The permaculture and healthy living that
Robert supports is important for increased resilience of our community. The space and gardens
that Robert has built are an asset to lower Puna and good work like this should be encouraged
by the planning committee.
I understand that noise concerns and traffic are a concern of Puna residents, throughout the
area, not just in this case. The committee should seek to allow a healthy balance of land use
such that gatherings can still happen and quiet country living can also exist. This permit
represents a healthy balance between consideration for neighbors'peace and the ability to
gather.
Please approve special permit application PL-SPP-2022-000016.
Sincerely,
Audrey Ichida
Puna Resident
