The reason I love living in Kau is <br /> because it is such a beautiful, remote place full of locals. It's so peaceful to view the turtles <br /> and spend a day relaxing at the beach. There are still plenty of areas to be completely alone <br /> out in nature here in Kau- it's such a special area of Big Island. The enviornment remains <br /> largely untouched which is important for Hawaii's ecosystem- flora and fauna. I moved to <br /> Hawaii 4 years ago to get away from the capitalist hustle and bustle of most areas of the <br /> mainland. I am so upset to hear there are plans to build a resort in Punalu'u and so are the local <br /> people. It would cause traffic,pollution, whitewash the landscape, and allow disrespectful <br /> tourists to ruin a remote and very special area. Please respect the aina and the locals.
