Frankly,this feels like overkill.
We're all for keeping things safe. But here's the thing: we already follow strict building codes
and safety measures. Adding another layer with this affidavit doesn't just double the
workload; it feels redundant. Every year,we're already on top of making our place safer and
more welcoming for our guests and our hosts.
So,why the affidavit? It's another hoop to jump through, another form in a pile that doesn't
make us any safer than the city's current codes do. The county already struggles with
enforcement. Why another thing to manage?
Here's a thought: let's skip the affidavit. If the place passes its inspections and meets the
codes, that should be enough proof we're doing things right. Or at least, let's find a way to use
what we already do to meet this new requirement. Make the existing inspections count for
more.
Keeping it simple benefits everyone. It keeps us focused on real safety improvements instead
of paperwork. And it keeps the path clear for homeowners to contribute to our local tourism
without unnecessary red tape. Please make this recommendation to the County Council.
Thanks for considering this. Let's keep our focus on practical safety, not just more forms to
fill out.
Best,
Kolby Ashton
801-819-8910
