July 31, 2024
Planning Department
101 Pauahi St., Suite 3
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Reference:
Change of Zone Application (PL-REZ-2024-000057)
Applicant - Graphic Images Hawaii, Inc.
TMK: 1-6-003:081 & 129; Kea'au, Puna, Hawaii
This letter is being submitted in response to a proposed
subdivision to be situated in referenced TMKs.
I am a current resident in the Ola Hou Estates subdivision which
is adjacent to the north of the proposed subdivision. My home
is at the south end of Ohiohi Street which appears to be the
only proposed access to the planned subdivision.
When we purchased our lot, Ms. Laurie Higashi had told us that
we wouldn't have to worry about any homes being built next to us
because the nursery next door cannot be subdivided. With
respect to the Higashis, as we consider them to be friends, we
were surprised to hear that the property was recently sold to
them and they were planning to subdivide the property.
Therefore, I won't oppose their plans to subdivide the adjoining
property.
However, I do object to having the only access that would be in
front of my home. I specifically purchased my lot for the
privacy and lack of vehicular traffic. I have no objection to
the subdivision as long as it has its own entrance separate from
our subdivision. Although that would be my preference, I would
be okay with Ohiohi Street as one entrance, as long as there
would be an additional entrance into the other subdivision.
This would help to alleviate the noise and dirt due to traffic
in front of my home.
Mahalo for your time and consideration in this matter.
Al Ferreira Jr.
16-4002 Ohiohi Street
Kea'au, Hawaii 96749
(808) 365-2704
paniolo650@msn.com
