The new ordinance proposed by <br />the Director favors the telecommunications industry too heavily and lacks sufficient <br />safeguards for our community. <br />It grants almost unrestricted authority to Planning and Telecom, without input from other <br />agencies or experts. The approval process is expedited to just 30 days, there are no protections <br />against 5G small cells, and it permits the installation of towers at schools, playgrounds, and <br />daycare centers. <br />I urge you to consider Council Member Evans' ordinance, which sets out clear and achievable <br />requirements.
