From:L Osterer
To:LPCtestimony
Subject:Testimony for Sept. 19 PLANNING COMMISSION Meeting re: PL-PDI-2024-000008)
Date:Wednesday, September 11, 2024 12:07:01 PM
I support Council Member Cindy Evans' proposed telecommunications ordinance, Bill 194,
which was already submitted to you.
However. I oppose the new ordinance proposed by the Director, agenda item #4 because it
does not offer sufficient protections for the community.
The community has indicated its desire to be more involved in the approval process.
The proposed changed ordinance needs further amendment to allow other agencies besides
planning and other experts to be involved. As such, the approval process of 30 days is
insufficient and favors the telecommunications industry, not the public. 5G cell towers need to
be restricted from school zones, day care centers and other sensitive areas.
Please consider Council Member Evans proposed ordinance which has clear, attainable
requirements. It is the perfect balance between the health, safety and welfare needs of the
people and the needs of the tech industry.
Thank you for your re-consideration,
L. Osterer, registered voter and long-term senior resident
