From:Makani Gregg
To:WPCtestimony
Subject:Testimony: Chapters 91-92 section 6-7.5(a)
Date:Thursday, October 3, 2024 10:31:43 AM
Aloha.
This is a testimony against todays (October 3rd) agenda item at 11am
within Chapters 91-92 sections 6-7.5(a) for applicant KAIMU COVE, LLC
(PL-SMA-2024-000063).
I do not support KAIMU COVE, LLCs application for a Special Management
Area Use Permit to create a 5-lot subdivision for future
residential development and related improvements all within a 3.677 acre
parcel in the Special Management Area (TMK 3-1-2-018:001).
I do not support and I am extremely against this
subdivision residential development which has a gate and blocks beach
access to where my ohana would access for subsistence fishing and
gathering.
This business did have signs up in a timely manner and I was not aware of
this proposal till yesterday. I drive past this property at least 3 times a
week and have not seen a sign up. And this kind of gated subdivision on
the oceanfront in Kalapana is not the way my family and community want
to see happen. I tried of seeing gated subdivisions and homes being built
and sold at extremely high prices which drives the cost of living for
everyone but especially for Native Hawaiian families born and raised of
this area.
Theres needs to be more time for families and residents to know about
this development because there are more families that will impacted than
who was consulted. They graves across the street has more families that
have not be contacted and need their voices heard.
I highly recommend that this development application does not pass today
because there are people that still have concerns and do no want this.
Mahalo.
Makani Gregg
