From:Tia Keliihoomalu
To:WPCtestimony
Subject:Testimony: Chapters 91-92 Section 6-7.5(a)
Date:Thursday, October 3, 2024 11:01:25 AM
Aloha.
My name is Tiara Keli'iho'omalu and I am writing on behalf of my entire
Keli'iho'omalu 'ohana, of Kaimu, Kalapana, due to the timely matter of
finding out of this meeting only yesterday.
This is a testimony against todays (October 3rd) agenda item at 11am
within Chapters 91-92 sections 6-7.5(a) for applicant KAIMU COVE, LLC
(PL-SMA-2024-000063).
I do NOT support KAIMU COVE, LLCs application for a Special
Management Area Use Permit to create a 5-lot subdivision for future
residential development and related improvements all within a 3.677 acre
parcel in the Special Management Area (TMK 3-1-2-018:001).
I do NOT support and I am extremely against this
subdivision residential development which has a gate and blocks beach
access to where my ohana would access for subsistence fishing and
gathering.
This business does not understand the true peaceful lifestyle of Kalapana.
My 'Ohana have lived in the area for many many years. I am a descendant
of Robert P. Keli'i'ho'omalu. By allowing a subdivision such as described in
this proposal will not be acceptable. We are a fishing and agricultural
community. This subdivision will stop us from going to the ocean to
practice our rights as natives of the area. Also, the subdivision will
disturb the final resting place of our kupuna (sacred burial grounds).
Something like this can not be allowed to happen! Please think of the
natives of the area first.
Mahalo.
