<br />North Kohala Access Group Minutes <br />Meeting Notes <br />May 2, 2012 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) <br />Participants: Jack Hoyt, Joe Carvalho, Beth Robinson, Ralph Galan, Toni Withington, Aric Arakaki, Jake Polvi, Ted <br />Matsuda <br />Hapu'u - Kapanaia <br />Halelua Lot 1 which consists of about 50 acres. <br /> <br />The landowners are considering to recommend to PONC. <br />¶ <br />Kauhola Lighthouse <br />Purchase has closed. Celebration is being planned for June 23rd.. <br /> <br />Ainakea <br />Grant of Easement signed by Terry Harrison has been accepted by the Planning Director and is on the <br /> <br />Mayor's desk for his signature and transmittal to the County Council for acceptance by resolution. <br />Pahoa (Honomakau) <br />Nothing new to report. <br /> <br />Upolu Airport - East end of the runway <br />Mauka-Makai access plan is with the landowners attorney for review. <br /> <br />Upolu Airport Area Restoration <br />The right of entry (ROE) by the state is held up right now, waiting on Airports Division. <br /> <br />Coast Guard Road <br />The County has submitted its application to the National Parks Service-Federal Lands for Parks Program <br /> <br />for acquisition of the Coast Guard Road between Akoni Pule Hwy. and the Loran Station parcel, <br />including approximately 7 acres of the Loran Station parcel. <br />Puakea Bay Ranch <br />Planning, NAH and Ala Kahakai hope to work out an agreement with the new owners of Parcel 41 to <br /> <br />realign the trail between the house and shoreline. <br />We'll contact the County Planning Department, NAH and the Ala Kahakai to make sure that <br />¶ <br />there is community input with this realignment. <br />Ranch at Puakea <br />We'll create a trails & cultural sites map with property lines. <br /> <br />Kukuipahu <br />Nothing new to report. <br /> <br />Kohala Kai <br />Trail alignment and construction completed from the highway to and along the shoreline has essentially <br /> <br />been approved and completed. A small realignment of the mauka-makai trail where it traverses down <br />into the ravine just before the trail begins to go south laterally along the pali is being completed. <br />We'll contact the DOT to check if the parking lot location is safe or could be relocated. <br /> <br />Grant of easement documents <br />It is a work in progress. <br /> <br />New Items <br />We will be discussing parcels of lands in the Nuilii area for public preservation purchases. <br /> <br />The state is updating it's State Cultural Preservation Plan, and will have public meetings. <br /> <br />They will update the State Historic Plan <br />¶ <br />They will also update the Ocean Resource Management Plan. <br />¶ <br />Next Meeting <br />Wednesday June 6, 2012, 4:30pm in the Old Courthouse. <br /> <br />1 of 1 <br />
