<br />NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />ACTION COMMITTEE MINUTES <br />MEETING DATE August 13, 2012 <br />TIME 5:00 pm <br />PLACE Kohala Senior Center, 54-3900 Akoni Pule Highway, Kapaau, <br />Hawaii 96755 <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br />1. Members Present: John Winter, Frank Cipriani, Christopher MacKillop, Collin Kaholo, <br />Susan Fischer, Giovanna Gherardi, Hermann Fernandez, and Joe Carvalho. <br />2. Members absent: Marlene Ching <br />Also present was Project Manager Rosalind Newlon from the Office of the Hawai’i County <br />Planning Department. <br />3. Public Attendance: Lynda Wallach, Kate Sterling, Bee Henderson, Jana Bogs, David and <br />Ruth Rotstein. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC: <br />Kate Sterling said that in the June 25, 2012 NKCDP AC minutes in the Infrastructure A <br />Subcommittee Report it stated that: “He said there is an issue with the cats and the trash <br />can and that they need lids for the trash cans” was incorrect and requested that it be <br />removed from the minutes. <br />ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS: <br />1. Minutes of the meeting were reviewed and discussed by the AC. In addition to the <br />changes that were suggested by the Action Committee that included additions of <br />information to the Infrastructure B Report, it was also requested by Susan Fischer to <br />delete the word “on” after “as well as” in the fourth sentence on page 3, and to delete the <br />sentence that starts with “Ron said” in the same section of the Infrastructure B report. In <br />the Infrastructure A report, it was requested to delete the second sentence which started <br />with: “He said there is an issue with the cats and the trash cans…” There was also a <br />request to remove “Committee” from the name of the Mahukona Cat Colony Caregivers. <br />All in favor of the minutes was unanimous and the minutes were approved with the <br />changes. <br />REPORTS <br />1. LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT – Rosalind Newlon, NKCDP Project Manager <br />reported on Planning Dept. permits received in the previous two months for the North <br />Kohala district. Hermann Fernandez had a question regarding the Hoyt Plan approval <br />project for multi-family dwellings and whether other approvals were necessary. <br />Rosalind explained that the zoning was CV-10 (Village Commercial) and that multi- <br />family dwelling units are a permitted use with the requirement for a plan approval prior <br />to the addition of new structures and additions to existing structures in the CV district. <br />1 <br /> <br />
