OKIMOTO <br />DIRECTOR <br />Phone: (808) 587 -2150 <br />Fax: (808) 587 -2167 <br />For Immediate Release: December 14, 2012 <br />12 -0484 <br />PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR <br />KEAAU -PAHOA ROUNDABOUT POSTPONED <br />HILO The state Department of Transportation (DOT) would like to update the <br />community that the Public Informational Meeting regarding intersection improvements at <br />Keaau -Pahoa Road and Old Government Road in Pahoa, Hawaii, previously scheduled <br />on Wednesday, December 19, will be postponed and rescheduled in January 2013. A <br />date and location will be announced in a future DOT news release. <br />The intent of the project is to improve safety and traffic flow by converting the existing T- <br />intersection into a single -lane modern roundabout. The project also includes slope <br />reinforcement, landscaping improvements, electrical conduits and street lights, drainage <br />improvements along with ADA compliant curb ramps and sidewalks, fencing, guardrails, <br />signage and striping. Construction work time is estimated at approximately 12 months. <br />The state DOT apologizes for the inconvenience and will notify the community of further <br />information. <br />
