Zevenbergan <br />Hawaii Scenic Byways Coordinator <br />State of Hawaii Department of Transportation. <br />RE: Letter of support for Scenic Byway Designation; <br />Highway 137 — The Red Road <br />It is with great excitement that Puna Community Development Plan (PCDP) Action Committee <br />expresses its supports for the efforts of Kalani (Sponsor) and KAPONO as they submit Highway <br />137 — "The Red Road" for consideration of Scenic Byways Nomination to your organization. <br />For more than five -three years the PCDP Action Committee has been working with government, <br />community leaders and organizations in suppeftin . t efforts in ffilfillingaimed at <br />implementing the action items of the PCDP. <br />Kalani and KAPONO are both organizations and leaders in their community and have <br />specifically taken on the task of PCDP (sec. 4.5.3.f "Designate and improve Highway 137 (Red <br />Road) as a Scenic Byway' . KAPONO having member representation all along Highway 137, <br />conducted a extensive survey where they gaine strong local support for the Scenic <br />Byways designation. We're certain that under KAPONO leadership, they will °e „ <br />the-community support will continue to grow as they work towards this important scenic byways <br />designation. <br />
