North Kohala Community Access Group Meeting Notes June 5, 2013 (Old Bank of Hawaii 4:30pm) : Joe Carvalho, Aric Arakaki, Jack Hoyt, Beth Robinson, Ralph Galan, Ted Matsuda. Participants Akoakoa Pint (Bird Cave) NSTR (Nothing Significant to Report) Hapu'u Kapanaia Pacific Plains, LLC has done a preliminary archeological report. Kauhola Lighthouse We are waiting for a preliminary management plan report. Halelua The landowners are applying for an extension on the special permit for the retreat center. Pahoa Beach The legal easement is between lot 4 and lot 5. The most convenient easement would be with the owners of lot 4. Upolu Airport - East end of the runway We need an update from the Planning Department (Larry Brown) We should ask for controlled access thru the gate is ensured in writing. · Upolu Airport Area Restoration st We had about 20 people show up for on June 1 National Trails Day. A portable irrigation system is set up on a trailer. Coast Guard Road NSTR Puakea Bay Ranch We should get the government agencies and the public to move the Makai lateral access.to make it safer Ranch at Puakea NSTR Latitude 20 (Land south of Pao'o) We should try to contact the owners and invite them one of our meetings. Kaiholena Ala Kaha Kai Trail Association is still seeking about $50,000 to purchase the Kaiholena South property. The Land Legacy has donated $1.4 million, and the Dorrance foundation has donated $50,000. . Kohala Kai We need an update from the Planning Department (Larry Brown), on the draft Shoreline Public Access Plan and draft Grant of Public Access Easements document. Grant of easement documents NSTR Old government roads and rail roads We need and update on PONC and the process. Well invite Gail Byrne to our next meeting to provide information to us. New Items NSTR Next Meeting Wednesday July 3, 2013, 4:30pm in the Old Bank of Hawaii Building.
