MOUNTAIN VIEW VILLAGE CENTER PLAN <br /> WORKING GROUPS MEETING <br /> FEBRUAY 14, 2013, 6:OOPM, MOUNTAIN VIEW SCHOOL CAFETERIA <br /> The ongoing discussion of"What is Mountain View Village,what areas do we plan for?" <br /> was led by Frank Commendador. We continued to consider: <br /> • boundaries as far north as Kulani and south as Pszyk, <br /> • extending commercial/light industrial out N. Kulani <br /> • commercial development makai of the highway <br /> • dealing with the school outgrowing its capacity <br /> Discussion began to focus on keeping our focus on the actual Village Center,remaining <br /> consistent with the mandate of the PCDP. A band of territory mauka and makai of the highway, <br /> including residential, commercial, and ag was recommended and approved, potentially <br /> expanding commercial mauka of Old Volcano Rd. <br /> A discussion of what needs do we seek to fill and preserve in Mountain View Village: <br /> • "Mom and Pop" services for residents of Mountain View and surrounding communities <br /> such as a laundromat, hardware, coffee shop, farm supply, attract visitors. <br /> • It is essential that we preserve historic structures and character. <br /> • We want to see multiple land uses in the Village, commercial, residential, parks, schools, <br /> church, cemetery, light industry. <br /> • Park and Ride for the bus. <br /> • Bike racks for cyclists <br /> • Consider a pedestrian village, parking behind shops <br /> • Consider one way traffic <br /> • Investigate the future of the Post Office, does it intend to expand? <br /> • Can we open the "road behind the Post Office allowing traffic to exit (or enter) into the <br /> Village? <br /> • Covered walkways <br /> • A design district <br /> • ADA accessibility <br /> Our next meeting will be March 14th, 6:00pm at the <br /> Mountain View School Cafeteria. <br />
