Communication No. 2014-26.1
From: jim G ordon<jimgordon95501 gyahoo.com>
Sent: Monday, May 12, 2014 11:28 AM
To: lbrowngco.hawaii.hi.us; UschiandDavid Snover
Subject: Emergency Road Through Seaview
To the Project Manager and the Action Committee,
No to any road through Seaview! We are a residential subdivision not a
highway! Any road that connects Hwy. 130 and Hwy. 137 will become the defacto
route for hundreds of cars a day to access the attractions of the Red Road, right
through the heart of our community.
This will fundamentally change the character of the beautiful, quiet place we,
the residents of Seaview, have chosen for our homes. While many of the proposed
roads in the plan make sense and will be supported by many people, this isn't one of
them. There will be strong opposition.
The alternative route, Puna Kai 3, is a better alternative, though the necessity
of it is an open question. Any emergency road is only as valuable as the emergency
dictates. Since we have no knowledge of the location of future emergency events
even the best intentioned efforts to mitigate their consequences have
questionable chances of success.
It's upsetting that proposals like this are presented for approval before they
have been presented to the people most affected by them. It makes us feel as if
our opinions have no value and our input is not necessary or even welcomed.
Sincerely,
Jim Gordon
Page 1
