<br />NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />AGRICULTURE ACTION SUB-COMMITTEE <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />DATE: Wednesday, April 16, 2014 <br />TIME: 5:00 PM <br />PLACE: North Kohala Senior Center <br />CALL TO ORDER: 5:10 <br />ATTENDING: Chair Frank Cipriani, Jana Bogs, Richard Liebmann, Deborah Winter, Gayle <br />Perez, John Winter <br />NEW BUSINESS: Organizational Re-structuring of NKCDP AG-Action Sub-committee. <br />With input from the above invited attendees, it has been decided that the AG Sub-committee <br />will act as an informational 'hub' for the dissemination of current activity relating to Agricultural <br />Development, Education, Energy & Food Security in the District of North Kohala. <br />As there seems to be an aversion to coming to meetings regularly, reports and breaking news <br />will be sent to contacts via e-mails. The following updates are some of the Issues that are <br />being addressed. Subcommittee members urgently needed to report on the various Issues <br />affecting Agricultural Development in our Community.. <br /> Agriculture Updates <br />1. Important Agricultural Land (IAL) Initiative – designation of IAL project (Strategy 1.8 <br />NKCDP) <br />2. Strategically sited agricultural lands – HOEA project update (Strategy 1.4 NKCDP) <br />3. Soil testing program – (Strategy 1.4 NKCDP) <br />4. Sustainable agricultural water development –test wells (Strategy 1.4 NKCDP) <br />5. K-12 Agricultural educational programs – High School programs and aquaponics project – <br />(Strategy 1.5 NKCDP) <br />6. Diversified agriculture – Food Security (Strategy 1.4 NKCDP) <br />NKCDP AG-Action Sub-committee Meetings will still be held the third Wednesdays, 5:00 pm, <br />st <br />at the Kohala Seniors Center. The next meeting will be held on May 21..... E Komo Mai. <br />
