<br />North Kohala Community Access Group <br />Meeting Notes <br />May 7, 2014 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) <br />: Dave Richardson, Keith Wallis, Beth Robinson, Carol Fuertes, Marlene Ching, Joe Carvalho, <br />Participants <br />Rick Gmirkin, Jack Hoyt, Keoni MacKillop, Ted Matsuda. <br />Akoakoa Point (Bird Cave) <br />Joe is waiting for a date from Eldridge of Pacific Land Management, for a site visit. <br />Hapu'u Kapanaia <br />Pacific Plains, LLC had their parcel appraised for $2.9 Million, which is the next step in planning for the public <br />purchase of Kapanaia Bay and Aamakao Gulch. <br />Halelua <br />Rain has shown possible problems with the lateral access crossing the gulch. <br />Water is running and that makes crossing more challenging. <br />Owner has flagged proposed trail <br />th <br />[Post meeting update: planning department has scheduled site visit for July 13] <br />Toni will contact Fred and mark Ohau Heiau <br />We should get this marked soon, as that parcel is listed on the market. <br />Kauhola Lighthouse <br />The landowners mauka of Kauhola (Ulrych) are about to begin grading the legal access for parcels makai of Pratt <br />Road, parallel to the existing road <br />Halaula Mill Road <br />NSTR <br />Ainakea Makai <br />We should schedule a site visit with the planning department, Ala Kaha Kai, Na Ala Hele, and some community <br /> members <br /> <br />Pahoa Beach <br />The lot line adjustment has not been recorded. <br />One owner states a portion of the access trail is blocked by a large tree in a berm. The other owner <br />has been clearing what he believes to be the access accepted by the Planning Dept. <br />We should schedule a site visit with the planning department before the lot lines and access trail get <br />recorded. <br />Upolu Airport - East end of the runway <br />NSTR <br />Upolu Airport - Restoration <br />Interpretive signs are being painted by the art classes at Kohala Middle School. The group is planning another <br />planting day. <br />Kaiholena Lot F <br />The parcel is in escrow. <br />The purchaser has 120 days from the date of signing to come up with the monies. <br />Ala Kaha Kai Trail Association is still seeking the remaining funding <br />. <br />Kohala Kai <br />We need an update from the planning department if the GOE has been signed by the planning director. <br />Access Group Interfacing with the Action Committee and the County <br />The document has been approved by the action committee and the cover letter is on the agenda for next week. <br />Note: it was approved by the AC on May 12. <br />The action committee will send it to the planning department. <br />Grand to Grand Ultra <br />The public response to their presentation was not exciting. <br />New Items <br />The Na Ala Hele advisory council is looking for new members. <br />They give recommendations to the State of Hawaii Na Ala Hele trail systems. <br />o <br />Next meeting <br />June 4, 2014; 4:30pm at Old Courthouse <br />
