PARKS,WATER & ROADS SUBCOMMMITTEE MINUTES OF MAY 27,2014 MEETING <br />Attendance: John Winter,Toni Withington, Carter Collins,Marcy <br />Montgomery, Stephen Schrader,Andi Longpre (minutes by andi) <br />GREENWASTE MEETING REPORT: John provided a summary of his and Ed Pollock's <br />meeting with Greg Goo dale, Division Chief,and Ryan Dixon, Civil Engineer,of the Solid <br />Waste Division (SWD) of the Hawaii County Dept of Environmental Management <br />(DEM) on May 22,2014. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss options for <br />processing greenwaste and making mulch more readily available to the residents of <br />North Kohala. <br />The subcommittee agreed that the next step is for John to send the report to Mr. <br />Goodale and to work with the SWD to find affordable alternatives to the present <br />situation. <br />FOLLOW-UP ON MEETING AND REPORT REGARDING WATER IN NORTH KOHALA <br />On April 6,2014 there was a community meeting re: water needs in North Kohala. A <br />paper was developed re: sources of water and the needs of the community. At the <br />May 12 AC meeting the AC unanimously endorsed the 14 page water report which <br />concludes with four recommendations for improving the water system in North <br />Kohala. Those recommendations are based on the listed strategies of the NKCDP. <br />The sunshine law requires that a cover letter to the DWS be approved at the next AC <br />meeting.(June 9,2014) If the letter is approved the letter and the water report will <br />be sent to DWS following the AC meeting. <br />The subcommittee agreed to table our discussions re: Pratt Road <br />
