Communication No. 2015 -23 <br />PCDP Subcommittee on Connectivity and Emergency Response <br />Meeting —April 28, 2015 Keaau Community Center <br />5:00 p.m. <br />MINUTES <br />Call to Order: 5:15 p.m. <br />Approval of Minutes as read (Meeting held March 24, 2015) <br />In Attendance: Patti Pinto, June Conant, Jon Olson, Rusty Jones, Hannah Hedrick, Sherri <br />Carden, and Marlene Hapai, Chair. <br />Old Business: <br />• Update on Ad hoc Committee on Connectivity and Emergency Response <br />initiated by Greggor Ilagan <br />Ilagan will work on draft for committee and introduce to Council at July's <br />meeting <br />Need to schedule meetings with the following: <br />• Representative San Buenaventura <br />• Representative Onishi <br />• Senator Ruderman <br />• Representative Gabbard <br />• Senator Schatz <br />Once the Legislative session is done, legislators will be back on island and will schedule <br />meetings with them. <br />Emphasized that alternative emergency routes have been successfully implemented. <br />Need to look at and consider using Congresswoman Patsy Mink's model. <br />New Business: <br />• Reprioritizing of Connectivity Locations to include input from May 2014 - <br />April 2015. PREP Fair, testimonies from PCDP, emails, letters, input during <br />CERS meetings <br />Discussion ensued to reprioritize existing and new input on Connectivity <br />Locations recommended by community members to include input provided <br />between May 2013 and April 2015. <br />A report has been forwarded separately providing the subcommittee's discussion <br />and recommendations. <br />• Open Discussion on Topics of Concern to CERS members and others in <br />attendance <br />1) Discussed importance of quality of roads as having the greatest impact on <br />school attendance. <br />2) Hannah Hedrick representing Neighborhood and Puna Watch emphasized <br />their importance in enhancing safety in communities. Also suggested <br />cameras be installed at connectivity locations to help with safety and <br />emergency response and reduce illegal activities. <br />Next Meeting: May 26, 2015, 5:00 p.m., Location: Keaau Community Center <br />Adjournment: 6:35 p.m. <br />
