MINUTES OF PARKS, WATER & ROADS SUB -COMMITTEE OCTOBER 28,2015
Attendance: John Winter, Toni Withington, Faye Yates, Carter Collins, Andi Longpre
(minutes by Andi)
1. Pratt Road Follow-up: Based on the outcomes of the two meetings held (Sept 30th with
landowners and the October 14th community meeting) we reviewed our next steps. There
was consensus from both meetings that Pratt Road ought to be utilized as an emergency
by-pass but, due to landowner opposition, not for any other community usage. A contact
list of state/county representatives and department heads was developed. Sub -committee
members will contact these individuals to seek their input and advice re: how to best
proceed with implementing Pratt Rd. as an emergency by-pass.
2. Faye Yates informed us that there are two different spellings on Kynnersley Rd on
signs and agreed to contact the appropriate person to remedy the situation.
3. Kohala Fish Farm: Although not falling under any NKCDP Strategy, we had
previously discussed initiating a community meeting to air concerns about such an
enterprise (simply as a service to the community). However, DNLR has granted
Hawaii Ocean Technology, Inc (HOTI) an extension for construction until 2017. We
agreed to table this topic until a later date in 2016.
