Vice Chair Roth called the meeting to order and the Commissioners <br />introduced themselves. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />1. Minutes of the Meeting of May 3, 2016 <br /> <br /> <br />The Commission postponed this item until the next meeting at the request of the secretary. <br /> <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br /> – None. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Design Review of a proposed three (3)-story building with six (6) apartments and a <br />1. <br />commercial use on the ground floor. Outdoor dining is proposed. Applicant: Kalawa 40 <br />LLC. Landowner: Kalawa 40 LLC. TMK: (3) 7-5-022: 040. Located at 75-5733 Kalawa <br />Street, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Dunlap familiarized the Commissioners with the location of the subject property on maps. He <br />also displayed some photographs of the site and surrounding properties, and said that the applicant <br />also owned the next two apartment buildings to the south, and that the proposed building would <br />have the same appearance. As background information, he mentioned that the applicant had <br />received a favorable recommendation from the Leeward Planning Commission for a five-year time <br />extension request to complete the construction. He also mentioned that the proposed plan showed a <br />five-foot setback for future road widening of Kalawa Street as required. He further described the <br />1 <br /> <br />
