<br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />JULY 21, 2016 <br /> <br />The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:30 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i <br />Civic Center, Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, with Chairman Keith F. Unger presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Keith F. Unger, Collin Kaholo, Nancy Carr Smith, <br />Barbara Nobriga and Sonny Shimaoka <br /> <br />ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Scott Church and Perry Kealoha <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Danny Patel (Counsel for the Commission), Duane Kanuha (Planning <br />Director), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), Jeff Darrow (Planner), Maija Jackson <br />(Planner), Christian Kay (Planner) and Noriko Sauer (Commission Secretary) <br /> <br />And approximately twelve people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />A quorum was present. Chair Unger announced that Deputy Corporation Counsel Danny Patel, <br />Counsel for the Commission, was leaving the County employment, and that this was his last <br />Commission meeting. The Commissioners and staff expressed their gratitude to Mr. Patel for his <br />legal guidance in the past years. <br /> <br />Chair Unger called the meeting to order, and introduced the Commissioners and staff to <br />members of the public. He described the procedure for public testimony. <br /> <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br /> <br />No statements were presented under this section of the agenda. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. APPLICANT: JAMES JUVIK (REZ 16-206) <br />Application for a Change of Zone from an Agricultural 20-acre (A-20a) to an Agricultural <br />10-acre (A-10a) zoning district for approximately 21.22 acres of land located on the east side <br />of the intersection of Keana‘aina Street and Kaloko Drive within the Kaloko Mauka <br />Subdivision at Kaloko, North Kona, Hawai‘i, TMK: 7-3-048:001. <br /> <br />The Commission took up this item at 9:32 a.m., with approximately twelve people from the <br />public in attendance. <br /> <br />(SEE EXHIBIT A) <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
