APPLICANT: RODNEY TANAKA (FORMERLY CYNTHIA KUULEI THOMAS) <br />(REZ 07-000065) <br />Request for an additional 5 -year extension of time to comply with Condition C (Complete <br />Construction) of Ordinance No. 07-136, which rezoned approximately 22,500 square feet of <br />land from the Single -Family Residential — 10,000 square feet (RS -10) district to the <br />Industrial -Commercial Mixed Use — 20,000 square feet (MCX-20) district. The property is <br />located on the northwest corner of the Lanikaula Street and Hinano Street intersection, <br />Waiakea House Lots 1stSeries, Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-2-036:090. <br />Favorable recommendation to the County Council with proposed amended conditions. <br />2. APPLICANT: CELESTIAL SANCTUM 501(C)(3) (SPP 17-000192) <br />Application for a Special Permit to allow the establishment and operation of a lodge and <br />retreat center for up to twenty-one (21) guests on a 3.926 -acre portion of a larger 25 -acre <br />parcel of land in the State Land Use Agricultural District. The property is located at <br />18-4271 Luna Ikena Road approximately one (1) mile northwest of its intersection with <br />Volcano Highway, Ola`a, Puna, Hawaii, TMK: 1-8-010:105. <br />Continued until further notice. <br />3. APPLICANT: VERIZON WIRELESS (USE 17-000067) <br />Continued hearing for an application for a Use Permit to allow the construction of a new, <br />non -manned telecommunication facility, consisting of a 167 -foot tall steel monopole tower <br />and related facilities within a 900 -square foot portion of a 1 -acre parcel of land situated in the <br />County's Agricultural 1 -acre (A-1 a) zoning district. Initial hearing was continued to allow <br />parties to participate in mediation. The property is located northeast of the `Ohi`a Avenue - <br />Alapua Street intersection, in the Eden Roc Estates Subdivision, Kea`au, Puna, Hawaii, <br />TMK: 1-1-082:031. <br />Commission voted to have Commissioner Gregory Henkel preside over the contested case <br />hearing procedure. <br />Minutes of July 6, 2017 — Approved. <br />
