(SPP 09-000082) <br />Request to amend Special Permit No. 09-82, which allowed the temporary storage of <br />portable toilets, parking for employee and business vehicles and office use on an <br />approximately 1.65 -acre portion of a 4.033 -acre property within the State Land Use <br />Agricultural District. The amendment request seeks delete Condition No. 2, which placed <br />a 5 -year life on the Special Permit. The property is located at the southwest corner of <br />Highway 19 and Kal6pa Lower Road intersection, Kal6pa Homesteads, Hamakua, <br />Hawaii, TMK: 4-4-003:Portion of 050. <br />Approved with conditions. <br />2. APPLICANT: KA `UMEKE KA`EO PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL <br />(USE 17-000071) <br />Application for a Use Permit to allow the establishment of a Hawaiian language charter <br />elementary school (grades K-2) for 100 students, six (6) teachers and four (4) operations <br />and support staff in an existing facility situated on 1.2042 acres of land within the <br />Industrial -Commercial Mixed Use - 20,000 square foot (MCX-20) zoned district. The <br />property is located at 313 Kuawa Street, which is on the northeast corner of Kalanikoa <br />Street and Kuawa Street, Waiakea, Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-2-032:024. <br />Approved with conditions. <br />3. APPLICANT: NA WAI OLA PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL <br />(USE 17-000070/ SPP 17-000193) <br />Applications for a Use Permit and Special Permit to allow the expansion of an existing <br />public charter school on 3.6 acres of land in the Single -Family Residential - 20,000 <br />square feet (RS -20) zoning district and one acre of land in the State Land Use <br />Agricultural District. The subject properties include the site of the Mountain View Gym <br />and St. Theresa Catholic Church and is located along the south (makai) side of Volcano <br />Highway, approximately 150 feet east of its intersection with Nichols Road in Mountain <br />View, Puna District, Hawaii, Tax Map Keys: 1-8-002:006, 1-8-002:049, 1-8-004:104. <br />This item was deferred to the November 2nd meeting. <br />Minutes of September 7, 2017 — Approved. <br />
