<br /> <br /> <br />KAILUA VILLAGE DESIGN COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />MINUTES <br />Meeting Date: December 5, 2017 <br />Time: 5:15 p.m. <br />Place: West Hawai‘i Civic Center <br />nd <br />Planning Department Conference Room – Building E, 2 Floor <br />74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, 96740 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Commissioners Present: Peter Dahlberg, Shaun Roth, Zon Sullenberger, Ann Kern, Jasmine <br />Crusat, Michaela Ikeuchi, John Hetherington and Bryant Ching. <br />Absent and Excused: Mark Van Pernis <br />Planning Department: Deanne Bugado (Planner), Terry Dunlap (planner) and Keola <br />Childs (planner – Long Range Division) <br />Applicants/Representatives: Shane Kitchens, Architect <br />A quorum was present, Chairman Peter Dahlberg call the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. and had <br />the Commissioners introduced themselves. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Minutes of the Meeting of November 21, 2017 <br />Chairman Dahlberg asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of the meeting of <br />November 21, 2017, no corrections were offered, and the minutes were approved as circulated. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br />There was no one from the public who wished to testify on any items on the agenda at this time. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />The applicant is proposing new signage for KFC located at Kona Coast Shopping Center. <br />This proposal includes: Two (2) 29 sq. ft. wall signs with 22” letters naming the restaurant, <br />mounted on the fascia (one mauka and one makai), one existing 20.30 sq. ft. double sided <br />ground sign will remain and will be repainted and fitted with: (a) 1.2 sq. ft. “Drive Thru” <br />sign with 2 ½ letters and (b) 1’-10” x 1’-10” (3.35 sq. ft.) graphic representation of the face <br />of “Colonel Sanders” and one wall sign with (a) menu board, (b) menu preview board, (c) <br />KFC directional signage, and (d) drive-thru pick-up sign.
