The North Kohala community group for Parks, Water, and Roads has worked
extensively with the community and property owners to resolve the issue and has been providing
regular progress updates to the North Kohala CDP Action Committee. A recent proposal to
develop an offsite parking area with restrooms has gained community support and is under
consideration as DLNR CIP projects for the 2019 legislative session.
The North Kohala CDP Action Committee supports these improvement projects to resolve the
ongoing negative impacts of traffic congestion, park user sanitation issues, inadvertent
trespassing, and to protect the area from further environmental degradation. We appreciate the
opportunity to advocate that the State Legislature prioritize these DLNR improvement projects
for Pololu Valley to preserve a valuable natural and cultural resource to our community and
state.
Sincerely,
Steve Hoffman,
Chair, North Kohala CDP Action Committee
www.hiplannint dept.com Hawat'i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider andr
P PlanningQahawaiicountvQov
