<br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAIÒI <br />MINUTES <br />JUNE 18, 2010 <br />The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:35 a <br />Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, Ballroom I, 75-5660 Palani Road, <br />with Chairman Frederic Housel presiding. <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Frederic Housel, Brandi Beaudet, Geraldin <br />Richard Nelson <br />ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Lani Bowman and Wayne Iokepa <br />STAFF PRESENT: Brandon Gonzalez (Deputy Corporation Counsel), BJ Leithead Todd <br />(Planning Director), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), Jeff Darrow (Staff Planner) and <br />Maija Cottle (Staff Planner). <br />The Chair introduced the Commissioners and staff to members of t <br />procedures to be followed for todayÓs meeting. <br />The Commission took up the following item at 9:40 a.m. with appr <br />the public in attendance: <br />APPLICANT: NEX GEN ENERGY PARTNERS, LLC (USE 10-21) <br />Use Permit to allow the construction of a 155-foot high wind ene <br />zoned district that would provide electrical power to operate th <br />sewage treatment plant. The area involved is located approximately ¾ mile north of Waikoloa <br />Road in the vicinity of the existing sewage treatment plant, Wai <br />TMK: 6-8-2: portion of 19. <br />Mr. Darrow oriented the Commission and public of the subject and <br />location map, aerial photos and site plan, and summarized the re <br />Planning Department recommended approval of the application, wit <br />In response to the ChairÓs questions, Mr. Darrow said that the p <br />miles away from the nearest residences and over a mile away from <br />Highway.
