Alongside
being a resident, I'm deeply involved in community service as a member of the Lions Club of
Kona and served as the 2021-2022 District Governor for the District 50-Hawaii Lions.
As a resident deeply committed to serving our community and as a volunteer in the largest
service organizations globally, I'm always on the lookout for opportunities to initiate service
projects that benefit our community. However, such endeavors require not only time but also
financial resources. To meet this need,we often organize fundraisers and events, but the lack
of affordable venues poses a significant challenge.
When I learned about the Ackerman family's vision to designate a portion of their land for
creating a space where organizations like ours can host events, I immediately pledged
support for their initiative. Having lived alongside the Ackermans as fellow long-time residents
and landowners, I have no doubt that they are leveraging their resources to foster the well-
being of our community.
I urge you to join me in supporting our community by approving their request. This endeavor
not only addresses a pressing need for accessible event venues but also symbolizes the spirit
of collaboration and community empowerment that defines our area.
Sincerely
Mitch Tam
