From: tube rosephotooraphy
To: LPCtestimonv
Subject: OPPOSE KAUPULEHU LAND LLC PL-SLU-2022-000008 AND PL-REZ-2022-000039
Date: Tuesday,June 13,2023 5:27:17 AM
Attachments: June 13, 2023.docx
June 13. 2023.docx
Aloha,
Please find attached(and below) letter from long-time Waimea resident, in opposition to the
following proposals:
KAUPULEHU LAND LLC PL-SLU-2022-000008 AND PL-REZ-2022-000039
Sincerely,
Jason and Shannon Shively
County of Hawaii
June 13, 2023
RE: OPPOSE KAUPULEHU LAND LLC PL-SLU-2022-000008 AND PL-REZ-2022-000039
To Thom It May Concern,
My name is Shannon Shively and I live in Kamuela, HI and I OPPOSE all applications
submitted by Kaupulehu Land LLC.
I do not believe we need, nor do I want more commercial space in this small country-town
of Waimea, especially at the entry to town where the traffic risks are detrimental. In
addition, I don't support turning agricultural land into commercial and/or residential lots.
There has been a frequent recurrence of agricultural land being subjugated to real estate
developers lately, and this will only promote additional loss of such land no longer being
used for it's original intended purpose. With the recent advent of green energy, the
question that comes to my mind is how is turning well-preserved and un-populated
agricultural land into pollutive commercial lots with huge parking lots as well as smaller
residential lots that will only increase traffic and car pollution in the area, helping the pristine
environment that the Big Island has had to offer?
We choose to reside in Waimea and have for many, many decades because we desire the
small-town residential feel that Waimea has to offer. Turning agricultural land into
commerical and smaller residential lots will only increase the population of this town,
