From: Zach Mermel <br /> To: W PCtesti mono <br /> Subject: RE: Item #7 William Morris(PL-REZ-2025-000083), in opposition to zoning change <br /> Date: Tuesday, September 2,2025 9:51:15 PM <br /> Dear Respected Windward Planning Commissioners, <br /> I write to respectfully request that the Windward Planning Commission <br /> oppose the request to rezone the subject lot on Old Volcano Highway to <br /> CV-20. <br /> As someone who was born and raised here in Volcano Village, I recognize <br /> the importance of balancing the preservation of our natural resources with <br /> place-based economic enterprises. However, commercial development in <br /> Volcano Village should take place in areas designated as "Moderate <br /> Density Urban" and "Village and Neighborhood Commercial" zoning, all of <br /> which already exist elsewhere in Volcano. Permitting this rezone request to <br /> move forward would set an undesirable precedent for adjoining <br /> landowners to also request rezoning to commercial status. As such, I <br /> respectfully request that the Windward Planning Commission deny this <br /> rezoning application. <br /> Mahalo nui loa for your consideration on this important matter. <br /> Zachary Mermel <br />
