Minutes of Meeting of May 23, 2011. <br />change to the minutes to reflect that in the subcommittee reports for District-wide matters that <br />Acahn and Loreli will meet with Steve Bowles. Kit Roehrig seconded the motion. <br /> <br />2. Margaret Horwatt made the motion to defer this item to the July <br />Select an alternate Vice-Chair. <br />meeting, and Loreli Eberhardt seconded the motion. <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />1. <br /> – Sal <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOT) – HIGHWAYS DIVISION - (15 minutes) <br />Panem from the DOT- Highways Division will provide an update on projects in the South Kohala <br />District. <br />Sal Panem provided information on the Kawaihae Road Bypass project, its timing and proposed <br />routes that are being considered. The projected cost is $235-$277 million. The Final EIS is due by <br />2012 and the draft EIS will be completed by the end of this year. Next he discussed the Kawaihae <br />Road and Queen Ka‘ahumanu intersection which he said had been delayed due to archaeological <br />surveys. He said the current schedule is December 2012. The cost for this project is $1.1 million. <br />2. <br />– Dean <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOT) HARBORS DIVISION - (30 minutes) <br />Watase, Senior Planner from the DOT- Harbors Division will present an overview of the Kawaihae <br />Harbor 2035 Master Plan and two new projects; the Kawaihae Harbor Development Plan and the <br />Kawaihae Harbor Environmental Assessment. <br /> <br />Hawaii County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br /> <br />
