<br />North Kohala Community Access Group <br />Meeting Notes <br />September 4, 2013 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) <br />: Keith Wallis, Alan Haun, Beth Robinson, Carol Fuertes, Aric Arakaki, Margot <br />Participants <br />McFedries, Ralph Galan, Charlie Anderson, Keone MacKillop, Joe Carvalho, Ted Matsuda. <br />Akoakoa Point (Bird Cave) <br />Eldridge Naboa, coordinator for Pono Pacific contracting for Kamehameha schools reported they are <br />cleaning up the area and have started on planting native plants. More updates coming at a later date. <br />Hapu'u Kapanaia <br />Pacific Plains, LLC has hired Alan Haun to do a preservation plan for Kapalama Heiau. <br />Alan has already made a draft of the preservation plan. <br />Carol Fuertes of Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit formed with the purpose "To enhance <br />communities through economic, conservation/preservation, social and educational programs for <br />youth and adults", presented our group with the idea of them applying for a grant to help execute the <br />preservation plan. <br />Kapalama Heiau is located on 2 different properties. <br />· <br />Carol has already got the okay from landowner Pacific Plains, LLC and will approach the other <br />· <br />landowner, Misty Kai, LLC if they would be interested in participating in this grant. <br />It seems that the Preservation Plan should be done before any work can be done on Kapalama <br />· <br />Heiau. <br />There may be a need to obtain the necessary permits from the State Historical Preservation and <br />· <br />the county. <br />Our group may want to write a letter of Misty Kai, LLC supporting the idea of a grant to <br />· <br />preserve Kapalama Heiau and ask their participation. <br />Halelua <br />NSTR (Nothing Significant to Report) <br />Kauhola Lighthouse <br />NSTR <br />Pahoa Beach <br />The 2 landowners have a pending parcel consolidation and re-subdivision with the county to move the <br />property lines. <br />The process has been delayed for about 60 days. <br />Upolu Airport - East end of the runway <br />Surety Kohala Corporation has an easement thru this property. <br />Charlie will set up a meeting with Surety and other community members to discuss this situation. <br />Upolu Airport Area Restoration <br />NSTR <br />Coast Guard Road <br />NSTR <br />Puakea Bay Ranch <br />NSTR <br />Ranch at Puakea <br />NSTR <br /> <br /> <br />
