<br />North Kohala Community Access Group <br />Meeting Notes <br />March 5, 2014 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) <br />: Eldridge Naboa, Toni Withington, Carter Collins, Carol Fuertes, Damien Arcaugd, Lydon <br />Participants <br />Pestano, Keith Wallis, Beth Robinson, Dave Richardson, Rick Gmirkin, Joe Carvalho, Ted Matsuda. <br />Akoakoa Point (Bird Cave) <br />Joe will arrange a date with Eldridge of Pacific Land Management, for a walk thru sometime this month. <br />Pacific land Management specializes in costal habitat restoration. <br />Hapu'u – Kapanaia <br />168 acres of this corridor is #3 on the PONC list. A resolution to purchase has been submitted to County Council. <br /> <br />Halelua <br />Joe will schedule an access trail walk thru with Larry Brown, Rick, Beth, and other interested persons. <br />Toni will send Rick the map and GOE for references. <br />Ohau Heiau is presently marked with a pile of rocks on Lot #1, which on the coastline. <br />The original location is above the gulch, possibly on Lot #2 or the adjacent landowner, and should be marked. <br />Fred has the coordinates from a benchmark, so we'll ask him to help get it marked. <br />· <br />Kauhola Lighthouse <br />The group will proceed with the Marine resource management project. <br />Pahoa Beach <br />This real estate is on the market for $8.2 million. <br />Joe will check with the planning department (Larry Brown) for an update on the access plan and lot lines. <br />Upolu Airport - East end of the runway <br />A letter from the action committee has already been sent to the planning director with Larry Brown's proposed <br />access. <br />At the last meeting we wanted the action committee to hold off on sending this letter so we could work with <br />the landowner on this access. <br />We will get clarification on the of the letter to the county at our next meeting <br />Toni will ask the airports division if a road or access trail can be in place along the east fence, running Mauka- <br />Makai. <br />Upolu Airport - Restoration <br />Toni and others will be meeting with Kohala Middle School students to make signs. <br />They anticipate these sign to be finished by the end of this year. <br />There will be a work part on Saturday, March 8th, starting at 8::30 am. <br />They will be working on soil conservation and native plants. <br />Kaiholena Lot F <br />NSTR (Nothing Significant to Report) <br />Kiiokalani Ahupua'a (Black Point) <br />The access easement has been recorded with the Bureau of Conveyances with concurrence from NKCAG <br />. <br />Kohala Kai <br />Resolution 104 will be heard at 9:00 am on Friday, March 7, 2014 by the full council. <br />Margret Wille tried to negotiate wording on deed restrictions with the landowner and the county to prohibit <br />construction or blocking of the Ala Loa and keep it open to claims. <br />Access Group Interfacing with the Action Committee and the County <br />Joe will send out final draft for requests to access group. <br />New Items <br />Halaula mill road <br />Surety wants to give a GOE for the access road that is currently used to the county. <br />This GOE will be for recreation use. <br />· <br />Joe will let Larry Brown know that we want to comment on this issue. <br />· <br />Ainakea - Makai <br />The GOE consists of a lateral trail only; there is no Mauka-Makai access. <br />We can do a walk thru with Dave Richardson for the easement on Charlie's 125 acre parcel. <br />Next Meeting <br />Wednesday April 2, 2014, 4:30pm in the Old courthouse. <br />
