<br /> <br />South Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee <br />1 <br />County of Hawai‘i <br />2 <br />MINUTES <br />3 <br />Meeting Date: July 22, 2013 <br />4 <br />Call to Order: 5:10 pm <br />5 <br />Place: Waikoloa Village Association Community Room <br />6 <br />68-1792 Melia Street <br />7 <br />Waikoloa, Hawai‘i 96738 <br />8 <br />Roll Call: <br />9 <br /> <br />1Members Present: John Hoover, Fran Tabor, Christopher (Kit) Roehrig, Josephine <br />10 <br />(Jojo) Tanimoto, Roger Harris, <br />11 <br /> <br />2Absent/Excused: John Mueller, <br />12 <br /> <br />3Planning Department: Deanne Bugado <br />13 <br /> <br />4County of Hawai‘i: Margaret Masunaga <br />14 <br /> <br />5 <br />Public in attendance: George Robertson, Joel Cohen, Sherm Warner, Patti Cook, Ron <br />15 <br />Lorginott, Libby Lorginott, Debbie Stofer, Jim Stofer (the Lorginott’s and Stofer’s left <br />16 <br /> <br />at 6:40), Ron Gonzales. <br />17 <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC REGARDING ITEMS ON AGENDA <br />18 <br />Joel Cohen – announced that the Hamakua Youth Foundation working with the Hawai‘i Island United <br />19 <br />th <br />Way will be conducting a orientation for Habitat for Humanity program on Saturday August 10 at the <br />20 <br />Waikoloa Elementary School Cafeteria. Also provided the Action Committee with a brief summary of <br />21 <br />the Planned Unit Development (PUD) discussion which happened at the County Council’s Planning <br />22 <br />Committee Meeting 7/9/13. The Planning Committee requested that Planning Director review the 2 <br />23 <br />proposed bills that would merge the two bills. Public review for PUD applications could formally go <br />24 <br />through the Action Committees. <br />25 <br />Debbie & Jim Stofer and Ron & Libby Longinott, – Regarding the PUD application (PUD-13-000025) <br />26 <br />on the agenda for comment, they are residents of the neighboring Hali’i Kai development and relayed <br />27 <br />concerns that the proposed changes for the Ocean Tower will have negative impact for the Hali’i Kai <br />28 <br />development. Proposed new driveway/road and parking lot face their development and there is concern <br />29 <br />regarding vehicle lights , traffic noise and the destruction of green space/ landscaping between the <br />30 <br />development and the Ocean Tower will directly impact the residents. <br />31 <br />ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS <br /> <br />32 <br />Minutes of the Meeting of May 20, 2013 were circulated. Roger Harris motioned to approve and Fran <br />33 <br />Tabor seconded. Unanimous approval given. Minutes of the Meeting of June 24, 2013 were circulated. <br />34 <br />Fran Tabor motioned to approve and Jojo Tanimoto seconded. Minor Corrections made and then <br />35 <br /> <br />unanimous approval given to revised minutes. <br />36 <br />BUSINESS OF COMMITTEE <br />37 <br /> <br />1.SKCDP Implementation. <br /> Action Committee will continue ongoing review of SKCDP Goals, <br />38 <br /> <br />Policies and Actions & discuss roles & responsibilities. <br />39 <br /> Update/Discussion of Agenda Items by Planning Director, BJ Leithead Todd or <br />a. <br />40 <br />authorized representative. <br /> <br />41 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br />
