<br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />OCTOBER 16, 2014 <br /> <br />The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:30 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i Civic <br />Center, Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Kailua-Kona, <br />Hawai‘i, with Chairman Brandi Beaudet presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Brandi Beaudet, Thomas Hickcox, Collin Kaholo and <br />Keith Unger <br /> <br />ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Barbara Nobriga and Thomas Whittemore <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Duane Kanuha (Planning Director), Amy Self (Deputy Corporation Counsel), <br />Jeff Darrow (Planner), Maija Jackson (Planner) and Noriko Sauer (Commission Secretary) <br /> <br />And three people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />A quorum was present. Chair Beaudet called the meeting to order, and introduced the <br />Commissioners and staff to members of the public. He also described the procedure for public <br />testimony. <br /> <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – No statements were presented under this section of the <br />agenda. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />APPLICANT: SCV POOLS, SPAS, MASONRY INC. on behalf of Jimmy Rex Robinson <br />(SSV 14-09) <br />Continued discussion and action regarding the application for a Shoreline Setback Variance to allow <br />the construction of a salt-water swimming pool, spa, concrete deck and 4-foot high pool security <br />fence within the 20-foot shoreline setback area. The property is situated along the south (makai) <br />side of the Kona Bay Estates private subdivision road, Kona Bay Estates Subdivision, Kailua-Kona, <br />Hawai‘i, TMK: (3) 7-5-005:024. <br /> <br />The Chair announced this item was postponed until the next meeting. <br /> <br />INITIATOR: PLANNING DIRECTOR <br />An ordinance amending Chapter 25 (Zoning Code), Article 5 of the Hawai‘i County Code 1983 <br />(2005 Edition, as amended), relating to zoning district regulations for dwellings within the <br />Industrial-Commercial Mixed (MCX) zoning district. The purpose of this amendment is to allow <br />double-family and multiple-family residential dwelling units within the MCX zoning district. <br /> <br />The Commission took up this item at 9:32 a.m. with three people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />(SEE EXHIBIT A) <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
