<br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />JUNE 18, 2015 <br /> <br />The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:33 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i Civic <br />Center, Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Kailua-Kona, <br />Hawai‘i, with Chairman Brandi Beaudet presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Brandi Beaudet, Scott Church, Collin Kaholo, Sonny Shimaoka, <br />Keith Unger, Thomas Whittemore and Barbara Nobriga (until 10:45 a.m.) <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Danny Patel (Counsel to the Commission), Duane Kanuha (Planning <br />Director), Jeff Darrow (Planner), Christian Kay (Planner) and Noriko Sauer (Commission <br />Secretary) <br /> <br />And five people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />A quorum was present. Chair Beaudet called the meeting to order, and introduced the <br />Commissioners and staff to members of the public. <br /> <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – No statements were presented under this section of the <br />agenda. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />APPLICANT:CHARLES E. LIPPS, JR. AND JANET S. LIPPS TRUST (REZ 15-187) <br /> <br />Application for a Change of Zone from an Agricultural-3 acre (A-3a) to a Family Agricultural-1 <br />acre (FA-1a) zoning district for approximately 3.039 acres of land. The property is located on <br />Hiona Street, approximately 1,000 feet west of its intersection with Māmalahoa Highway, Keopu <br />rd <br />3, North Kona, Hawai‘i, TMK: 7-5-024:078. <br /> <br />The Commission took up this item out of order at 9:35 a.m. with four people from the public in <br />attendance. <br /> <br />(SEE EXHIBIT A) <br /> <br />APPLICANT: RT’S SERVICE, LLC (Amend SPP 1247) <br />Request to amend Special Permit No. 1247 by deleting Condition 2 (life of the permit), Condition <br />6 (increasing days and hours of operation), and increasing the number of stored vehicles. Special <br />Permit No. 1247 was issued in 2004 to allow office and storage uses for investigative/collection <br />services, a towing service, and short term parking for repossessed or disabled vehicles on <br />approximately 14,273 square feet of land in the State Land Use Agricultural District.
