HomeMy WebLinkAboutArborist Advisory Committee Fact SheetARBORIST ADVISORY COMMITTEE (updated March 2023) Purpose: To advise the Mayor and Council on matters relating to the designation and safeguarding of exceptional trees in the County of Hawaii. Authority: Hawaii County Code, Sections 14-58 and 14-59 (in conjunction with Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 58-2). Appointment: Mayor, no confirmation is required. Members are co -terminus with the Mayor. Full Membership: six members, including the Planning Director or his designee Specific Representation: none required. Requirements: One member must be actively employed in the practice of landscape architecture and no less than three others must be selected on the basis of active participation in community beautification or research programs or organizations involved in the ecological sciences, including ethnobotany or Hawaiian. Meeting frequency: no specific requirement Financial Disclosure: not required to submit Reappointment: per Mayor's discretion. Qualities: Respected by the community as being community -minded and oriented. Able to focus on the community needs as a whole without catering to special or self-interest.
