DISABILITIES
FACT SHEET

Purpose: To advise the Mayor of the County of Hawaii on accessibility issues related
to people with disabilities. As its primary goal, the Committee shall review
and recommend action and provide guidelines to improve the quality of life
for people with disabilities of the County of Hawaii.
Authority: Hawaii County Charter, Section 4-4, Advisory Commissions.
Appointment: All Members, except ex-officio Members, shall be appointed by the Mayor,
of the County of Hawaii. The term of the membership shall be in
accordance with the term of the Mayor.
Full Membership: The size of the Membership shall be established at the discretion of the
incumbent Mayor.
Specific Representation: Disabilities goal is to have fair
representation of people with disabilities to actively participant in the actions
of the Committee.
Requirements: The Membership shall be those persons who have demonstrated their
capacity for dedicated and forceful leadership of the community in which
they live.
Meetings: Minimum six per year.
Financial Disclosure: Not required.
Reappointment: Per the discretion of the incumbent Mayor.
Qualities: Consists of Members who have a significant interest in aiding people with
on People with Disabilities.
