CALL TO ORDER& ANNOUNCEMENTS: Commission Chair Thom Randle called the <br /> meeting to order at 9:04 a.m. <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF AUGUST 26, 2015 MEETING: <br /> Commissioner James Fritz moved to approve the August 26, 2015 minutes as written. <br /> Commissioner Trina Nahm-Mijo seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously with <br /> members present: Fear, Fritz, Nahm-Mijo, Neff and Randle voting yes. <br /> 3. APPROVAL OF ADDENDUM AND/OR SUPPLEMENTAL AGENDA: None <br /> 4. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON ITEMS LISTED ON AGENDA: <br /> Councilmember Margaret Wille spoke to the commission on Bill 100 (attached to original minutes). <br /> She provided a Proposed Amendment document (attached to original minutes) which she has <br /> submitted to the Council Chair to be agendized with the original Bill 100 which adds "biodegradable <br /> Plastic to the definition of"Compostables". She also provided informational documents on <br /> biodegradable plastics—"hioplastics" that the secretary will provide to the commission <br /> members (attached to original minutes). <br /> Councilmember Wille stated that she will not move forward on some portions of Bill 33 and offered <br /> the following suggestions: <br /> 1. "Haulers would provide sorting"— maybe this could be revisited in 2018. <br /> 2. Encouraged the department to actively look at the Waste Management Hawaii contract in the next <br /> negotiation year—2018. <br /> 3. Setting aside indefinitely allowing contractors to dispose at transfer stations. The mayor will re- <br /> examine and evaluate this proposal at a later date. <br /> Director Leithead Todd clarified that trucks would use the Saddle Road route. Allowing select trash <br /> to be transferred from Hilo to Kona when necessary and returning green waste to Hilo in those <br /> trucks could save the county approximately $55,000.00 per month. <br /> County of Halve l is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
